Welcome, this is where you get to have a discussion about the nerdy things you are most passionate about.
Today’s Topic: Does Virtual Reality Stand a Chance in 2016?
If you haven’t heard about the Oculus Rift by now people might think you are living under a rock. And they’re far from the only company hopping on the VR bandwagon. Sony’s PlayStation VR and HTC’s Vive are two headsets with confirmed 2016 launches.
Even Google wants a piece of the action. In a recent report Google is planning to launch their own VR headset in 2016.
But wait! Didn’t we do this once before? Why, I remember in 1995 when Nintendo’s Virtual Boy was going to revolutionize gaming. Nintendo, originally forecasting sales of 3 million consoles, deemed the Virtual Boy a failure after they managed to push just 350,000 units in the 5 months after launch.
I even remember playing Road Rash for the Sega Genesis with a VictorMaxx Stuntmaster.
Since we are all passionate about the things we love, it’s possible for this discussion to get heated. I just ask that you follow this one simple guideline. No insulting one another.
Now, have fun and please don’t reply with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’. This should be a discussion about why you think VR will sizzle or fizzle.
